Head PAA Interviewing and Selection Meeting

Overview
We will be discussing how to carry out a successful interviewing and selection process for potential Year-Long PAAs. Our discussion will include an overview of the current numbers of applicants, guidelines and timeline for selection, questionnaire for interviews, rubric for selection, and notification of acceptance or rejection from the program.
Number of Eligible Applicants
- Over 130 students applied for the position of O-Week PAA
- We were only able to give interviews to 6-8 new applicants from each college
- However, those applicants not granted an O-week interview are eligible for the position of Year-long PAA, so these individuals will be added to the participants Head PAAs will interview for Year-long PAA.
Guidelines and Timeline for Selection
- Guidelines and Timeline for Year-long PAA Selection given out
- Guidelines discuss who to include on your interview panel, standardization of interviews, and confidentiality of applicant information
- Timeline includes when all interviews should be conducted, when decisions are due to the OAA, and when official decision letters will go out
Questionnaire for Interviews
- A standardized list of questions you should ask in your Year-long PAA interviews to ensure fairness between applicants was given out
Rubric for Selection
- A rubric on which you can rate each applicant was given out
- Rubric categories reflect important characteristics of successful PAAs
- Rubric ensures fairness between applicants
Applicant Notification of PAA Status
- After selecting your college’s PAAs, please send Stephanie an email with your decisions on who is accepted as a new Year-long PAA. Please drop off rubrics for each applicant to our front desk, or send to Stephanie through campus mail.
The OAA will send out official acceptance and rejection letters upon receiving your lists.
