Thank you, Joanna!

We’ve been seeing a lot of Blue PAA shirts around campus… way to show off your advising pride!!!

In light of our new shirts, we would like to showcase Joanna Luo, fellow PAA at McMurtry College, for her work on our new PAA logo. For those of you who are new to the PAA program, we were logo-less until Joanna took on the project to give our organization a proper header. On behalf of the PAA program, we would like to give Joanna a hearty thanks for her design and her desire to fill a gap in the PAA program by making us a logo.

And a big thanks to all our PAAs who are sporting our new shirts around campus! Way to advertise us and look good while doing it 😉

Here’s a picture of our O-Week PAAs sporting their O-Week PAA shirts in white… the Yearlong PAA shirts are navy with a white and gray PAA logo!

Who do I go to?

Many students, faculty and staff get confused between the functions of PAAs and Academic Fellows or Mentors. Although, the two groups often work in collaboration, they also have separate functions and purposes in the college. This chart should help delineate the differences and similarities between the two roles.

Congrats to our October PAAs of the Month!

Special congrats to our October PAAs of the month: Matthew Diasio, Sid Richardson & Rebecca McKinnell, McMurtry!

“Matt is one of the most passionate and active PAAs at Sid, and probably on campus. He consistently thinks of ideas to improve the PAA system, and more importantly, to improve his peers’ access to advising not only about classes, but other future endeavors – Matt was the impetus for Sid’s first annual Summer Internship Fair last fall. He is a stellar PAA whose excitement about providing academic advice is evident through his continual efforts, novel suggestions, and persistent pursuit to help others with any circumstance, academically or not.”
-Sachin Allahabadi, Sid Richardson ‘13

“During O-Week Rebecca went above and beyond the call of duty in all tasks. She is an excellent PAL and is a huge encouragement to new students. People on her floor frequently visit her room, which she keeps unlocked, with a cute designated “PAA corner” inside with candies. Rebecca is approachable, outgoing, kind, organized, and responsible. Her energy is contagious to the other new PAAs. I can tell that she is very invested and her energy encourages others to care about academic advising.” –Emily Pyle, McMurtry ‘12
